Scene 1
One Cake for One Guest
🎭 Use the couch as the front door. Mime a cake, or balance the optional plate beside Pudding.
Action
Pudding enters balancing the cake. It wobbles, so he wobbles even harder.
Pudding(proudly)
Sniff, sniff… cake! Behave yourself. We have company.
Pudding
One cake for Ivy and me. It only fits two.
Action
A knock sounds. Pudding’s ears spring upright.
Pudding(startled and loud)
Knock knock. More guests!
Ivy(quickly)
Boing-a-ling! Party rabbit arriving!
Ivy
I wore my best party ears. They are both invited.
Pudding(grandly)
Two slices. Large, tidy, beautifully manageable slices.
Action
Pudding and Ivy look at the audience. Pudding raises one paw.
🎉 Everyone together
Slicers, practise your job. Chop the air four times, saying “Slice!” each time.
Pudding
Excellent slicing. We are ready for absolutely anything.
Action
Pudding makes one cut. The plate slowly skates behind him.
Pudding(small and puzzled)
Where did the cake go?
🎉 Everyone together
Slicers, warning job. When Pudding looks at you, shout “Behind you, Pudding!”
Pudding
Behind me? Thank you, Slicers. I shall investigate.
Action
Pudding checks behind Ivy. The cake remains plainly behind Pudding.
Ivy
Your other behind.
Action
Another knock sounds. Pudding’s ears lower slightly.
Scene 2
The Cake Escapes Again
🎭 Same front door. Keep the plate ready to skate behind Pudding again.
Ivy(brightly)
Knock knock. More guests!
Ivy(quickly)
That’s my cousins. They travel well with rabbits.
Pudding
More mouths. The slices are already looking nervous.
Ivy
I will avoid alarming mine.
Action
Pudding cuts once, twice, three times. The plate spins behind him again.
Pudding
The cake has escaped again.
🎉 Everyone together
Slicers, warning job. When Pudding looks at you, shout “Behind you, Pudding!”
Pudding
Behind me again. Thank you, Slicers. I believe you now.
Action
Pudding freezes, then slowly turns toward the audience. He finally spots the cake.
Ivy
It travels less when somebody holds it.
Pudding(softly)
I want everyone here. I also wanted enough cake.
Ivy
Both may fit. The slices will require courage.
Action
Three knocks sound. Pudding’s ears sink once, twice, then three times.
Pudding(with a slowing voice)
Knock knock. More guests!
Ivy
Those will be my cousins.
Pudding
How many cousins?
Ivy
All the couch-shaped ones.
Ivy
Let’s count them before the cake becomes a rumor.
Action
Ivy and Pudding turn toward the audience. Ivy points with both paws.
🎉 Everyone together
Slicers, whole-body counting job. Stand up. The grown-up points and counts. Each child says “Guest!”
Ivy
That many guests! My ears need another floor.
Pudding
Us, plus every cousin. One cake.
Ivy
Good thing the Slicers came.
Scene 3
Stamp-Sized Slices
🎭 Place the cake at the center. Keep Pudding and Ivy visible.
Action
Pudding sets the cake firmly in front. He and Ivy look at the audience.
🎉 Everyone together
Slicers, do your job. Chop the air four times, saying “Slice!” each time.
Pudding(amazed)
You did it! There is a piece for every guest.
Action
Pudding serves stamp-sized pieces around the couch. He chooses the tiniest piece last.
Ivy
Pudding, yours is the smallest.
Pudding(in a whisper)
I kept the tiniest on purpose. I get the first party bite.
Action
Ivy peers at Pudding’s tiny piece.
Ivy(quickly)
Small cake. Large party. Sensible mathematics.
Pudding(brightly, then gentler)
Knock knock. More party!
Action
Everyone takes one tiny nibble. Pause for happy chewing, then make a slow bow.
Pudding(contentedly)
The cake is quiet now. The party is not.
